Welcome to TikTok Taste Test, where every week national writer Allison Reinhardt spotlights a trending TikTok recipe so you can know the latest and greatest viral food trends worth checking out.

You read that right. $17 for a smoothie? I was also appalled when I first heard about the costly, now-viral Marianna’s Coconut Cloud Smoothie named after influencer Marianna Hewitt. You can find this dreamy drink at Erewhon, a Southern California-based grocery store that has been taking over TikTok in its own right, especially since Emma Chamberlain first revealed her kale salad order from this expensive establishment last summer. At Erewhon, a $17 smoothie fits right in among their $13 Paleo Coconut Granola, but what makes this smoothie so special in the eyes of TikTok foodies?

Upon just looking at this newly notorious drink, it’s pretty obvious what makes it stand out: that vibrant blue layer near the bottom. The entire drink is undeniably gorgeous to look at, but that bright blue hue is like nothing I’ve ever seen before in a food. Marianna’s Coconut Cloud Smoothie gets its signature blue color from Blue Majik, a dried extract of Spirulina that acts as a natural food coloring. The key to the two-toned nature of the drink is to mix the Blue Majik into the smoothie base along with MALK almond milk, avocado, almond butter, banana, pineapple, vanilla collagen, and vanilla stevia, as well as adding it above the bottom layer of coconut cream to create a bright blue layer underneath the grayish-blue smoothie base.

With the entire ingredient list displayed at Erewhon (and on TikTok) for everyone to see, TikTok foodies everywhere have been attempting to recreate this unique smoothie to avoid the ghastly price and trip to L.A. In one of the most popular replications, TikTok user @skyasghiblicafe ventures to Erewhon to try Marianna’s Coconut Cloud Smoothie for herself in order to recreate it as best she can. Considering Marianna herself commented her stamp of approval, I’d say it seems like she did a pretty great job!

If you can get your hands on the very specific ingredients used in this viral smoothie (I’m looking at you, MALK almond milk, vanilla collagen, vanilla stevia, and Blue Majik), try it out and let us know what you think on TikTok and Instagram (#spoonfeed!). You might even get noticed by the namesake of the smoothie herself!
